More storage...thank you!
Is it a little expensive? Sure. However its cheaper than the old 120 gig hard drives were so MS has at least come down on their $ to gig ratio.
This thing is exactly what I needed. I download alot of tv shows from Xbox Live. I also download a ton of Xbox Live Arcade Games, a lot of downloadable content to expand my games, and I also purchase full games. My 120 gig hd was always full. That wont be an issue now. This couldnt have come at a better time. Lots of big releases from last year are now getting lots of new content and that takes storage. If your a serious gamer and do a lot of downloading buy this NOW!
Well Worth It
A few weeks ago I nearly bought the 120GB for $150. Boy, am I glad I waited. I previously had the 60GB and was down to my last gig so this came at the perfect time.
I don't see what all the fuss is about with the pricetag. I think $129 for 250GB is just fine. It's also not fair to compare the price of this hard drive to that of a pc or PS3. They are their own entities and what they offer shouldn't come into it. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Simple as that. For all the 250 allows you, I was more than happy to pay the asking price.
The 250 came with the disc and transfer cable that makes transfering the data from another HDD to this one possible.
The instructions were clear and accurate and within a few minutes, the transfer began. On screen, I was told it would take a little over 4 hrs. but it only took 3 to 3 1/2. Afterward, I found that everything had transfered perfectly to the 250 and nothing was left on the 60. This was almost a week ago and I haven't found there to be a problem or corrupted game save yet.
I found the 250GB hard drive to be a worthy investment that should last for quite some time. I have 17 full 360 games installed to the hard drive (makes them quicker to load and easier for the system to play), 21 arcade games, 2 360 demos, a number of add-on's for games, a movie and about 25 t.v. shows and I still have 120GB left. That's pretty good by any standard. Most 360 owners will want this at sooner or later regardless of what they think about the price. For all it allows, that should be easy to get over. Recommended.
Something U Might Want To Consider...
I recently picked up this HD, because my 20 GB HD just wasn't cutting it anymore. Thankfully and due to some unexpected finances, I got delayed in getting it or I would have ended up paying more for the 120 GB HD. Sometimes things just work out, I guess.
Anyway, what I think people should consider who are shunning this HD for whatever reason is that our video game has begun to be rocked by digital downloads. Already popular services like Games On Demand are eliminating physical media.. the days of having a game disc to have to put in your console to play or take to a friend's are near over. And to further this along, Microsoft recently began allowing you to store game date and your profile on a very portable USB drive. Why? Because that was the one real problem keeping digital to really dominate.. the inability to take your games on the go. NOW, you can.. as with the USB drive you can take your digital games to a friend's, while they remain LINKED to your personal profile, showing that you are still the owner of the game.
So what this all means is that digital downloading is going to be on the rise and you're going to need a HD with a LOT of space available. right now, the 250 GB HD is the best out there. sure, maybe the price is a bit steep, but in the long run, you're going to want (and NEED) the extra space.
