Big step backwards
If your a fan of the other SceneIt's for the 360, your best to avoid this low budget pile of crap. First off the entire format of the game has changed for the worse. There is no online play and no avatar support (it includes it's own characters to choose from). It has Big Button support but it seems sluggish and slow responding. It's obvious that it was not meant to use these controllers due to the fact that there is an Xbox 360 controller taking up half the screen during play to show you how to buzz in (yes seriously!!!). It reminded me of playing a low budget WII port or like going back and watching the never aired pilot of you favorite TV show. Save your money and hope Microsoft adds more downloadable content for SceneIt Box Office Smash.
Beware....
Usually when I purchase a game I extensively research reviews, so most purchases are either solid or I get what I expect. The first XBox Scene It was great, the second one was excellent, incorporating avatars and sporting a great sense of style and fun. So with Scene It? Bright Lights! Big Screen! I figured that they would just keep building on the past success, I did not even check reviews. Big mistake. The game is a disappointment on so many levels, it's hard to know where to begin. There is no support for Xbox avatars, it tells you to log in, but gives no indication that you have. Then it presents a warning to log-in or questions will not be saved. Still, you have no idea if you are logged in because your account avatar never shows up.
The game takes place on one basic bland screen. There is an on-screen host and when his lips actually do sync with his dialog he's pretty skippable. Questions are good with clips from current features, but the whole presentation looks like a bad Wii game. The last game you and your fellow avatars went zooming around on a couch with beautifully rendered animation sequences. This one you get a very brief cut scene that looks like entry level 3D renderings.
I could go on, but why bother? If you are even remotely interested in this game, stop yourself, and get the last one, Scene It? Box Office Smash (best in the series) or even the first one.
Scene It? on the consoles has dropped to a surprising new low in which it may not recover.
Worst entry in the series so far, buy the old ones!!
If you've never played Scene it on the Xbox before, do yourself a favor and buy the previous edition, Scene it Box Office Smash. You'll save money and have more fun. That version was built specifically for the Xbox 360, and had avatar support, online play, and tons of fun modes designed around the Xbox 360 big button controller. This game was designed with the Wii in mind, so it's unresponsive, ugly, doesn't have much content, and is real dumbed down. They took out online play and avatar support!!! If you already own the two previous games, still DON'T buy this game. You will hate it compared to the others.
Hopefully Microsoft will release another DLC pack for either of the old versions so we can continue to play them until next year when maybe a decent edition of this game will return.
